Your reading tastes change….?

How have your reading tastes changed over time?

When I was younger, I didn’t really enjoy reading anything horror related because I was afraid it would give me nightmares. But then I read a few of the Goosebump’s from R. L. Stine and the Scary Stories to tell in the Dark series by Alvin Schwartz. That’s when things started to change for me. I now love to read a good horror on occasion….especially around Halloween. I think I just picked up those books at just the right time when I was getting old enough to realize it’s just fiction and not real.

I don’t normally like to read romance…..I’m not knocking it, it’s just not my cup of tea. But I think that changed a little when I read the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer and more recently the Crave series by Tracy Wolff. I also ended up reading The Host by Stephanie Meyer (I borrowed that book from a friend when I read it) and I also ended up reading the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy from Maggie Stiefvater.

I’ve also begun reading poetry as of late. I started reading it as part of my reading goals for the year. One of my reading goals was to try something new and adding poetry happened to be the new thing I incorporated into my reading. Now, I try to read poetry periodically throughout the year (in between all my other reading.

  1. I’ve always been too scared to read horror 😬
When I was younger, I generally enjoyed more plot-driven novels, whereas now I love a good character study or analysis of society. I love classics for that reason 🙂

  4. As a kid I used to love those choose your adventure books. I read every copy I could find and would find myself starting from the beginning to take alternative paths. They don’t have adult version of these books do they? I haven’t tried to look myself but I think I would still be interested!

I used to read romance novels all the time. I think I would still enjoy them now but non-fiction tends to pull my attention nowadays.

    1. I use to read the choose your own adventures when I was a kid as well. I’ll have to look into that to see if they have any for adults.

    1. Some people do read to specifically learn something or to gain more knowledge about a particular subject. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

  6. I feel with age, the taste may change. It also changes with season and the outside news. Like some places you may feel like reading horror and sometimes maybe fantasy or even romance etc. I guess mood plays big part with age.

    1. That’s true. Like some people may feel like reading horror around Halloween or they may feel like reading romance around Valentine’s day.
