The Fireside Chats

There are many of us that have had some experience with a bully while we were in school and we don’t have fond memories associated with those experiences. So, why am I comparing literature (something I enjoy a lot) with a school bully (something that is not enjoyable)?

• You may be reading along only to find out your favorite character from that book just died. Even if their death was inevitable, it may still hurt.
• Sometimes a book doesn’t end the way you thought it was going to. I read a book like that once and now I refuse to read anymore books from that author ever again.
• Have you ever read a book that you couldn’t get through? That doesn’t happen to me very often but it happened to me last year. There was a book that I was reading that I had to put down before I finished. It just dragged on and on so much that I had to put it down and walk away. I couldn’t finish it to save my life.
