The Fireside Chats

Last week, I did an article on the top 5 series so today I’ve decided to do a top 5 for books that aren’t part of a series or trilogy. My list includes a wide array of books from different genres because I enjoy literature from many different genres and I hope you enjoy these books too (if you haven’t already).

• Coming in at number 5 is The Charmed Children of Rookskill Castle by Janet Fox and it’s a good middle grade children’s book. This book kind of reminds me of being at Hogwarts when the trio were in their early days of their education at school. This would probably be a good book to read with your kids…..
• Coming in at number 4 is The Cellar by Natasha Preston and is a suspense/thriller that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat. If I’m not mistaken, this is probably the first book I read from author Natasha Preston and I’ve read many others since then. {Note: Let me say that I would recommend this for adults only.}
• Coming in at number 3 is The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett and is a wonderful children’s book. I think I read this in middle school (5th or 6th grade) and I read it again a couple of years ago. I got a bit of nostalgia when I re-read this book because it reminded me of my childhood.
• Coming in at number 2 is The Last Bookshop in London by Madeline Martin and is a historical fiction for adults. This book is a favorite of mine and I haven’t been able to stop talking about it since I read it. I normally don’t do a lot of historical fiction, however, I made an exception for this book and I’m glad I did. This is one of those books that will probably have you crying one minute and have you rooting for the characters the next minute.
• Coming in at number 1 is An Unwanted Guest by Shari Lapena and is a psychological thriller for adults. This book is the first book I read by author Shari Lapena and it’s the reason I started reading books from this author (and it’s my favorite book by this author so far). If you are an adult that is into suspense/thriller type novels, then this one is probably for you.
