New Year, New Goals!

First off, let me wish you a Happy New Year to everyone out there. I hope that 2024 will be an awesome year for you and your family.

Now, this is usually where I’ll make any reading goals for the year. I usually try to read more books than I did the year before. Sometimes I’ve succeeded in that goal and sometimes I’ve failed. It depends on how much reading I can achieve over the course of the year.

However, the last couple of years I’ve tried to add some other goals besides just trying to read more. One thing I’ve tried to do is branch out and read something outside of my comfort zone. In the past, this has included poetry, historical fiction, manga and graphic novels. Last year, I noticed I read only one e-book so I think I might try to read more e-books this year. After all, I’ve got plenty stored away on my Kindle.

Do you have any reading goals for this year? If so, would you mind sharing in the comments?

  1. I want to read more nonfiction this year.

    1. I don’t read a lot of nonfiction. I’ve read the occasional autobiography of a couple of celebrities and that’s about it.

      1. I buy more than I read, so I’d like to actually read some of what I bought.

      2. I do the same thing. I’m sure it’ll take me until my 100th birthday to read all the stuff I’ve got now.

Personally, I used to make new year resolutions but after 7 years, I told myself the truth that I don’t keep them. So, I’ve stopped making new year resolutions. My only plan for each year is to make more money than I did last year.

    1. It’s okay if you make new year resolutions and it’s okay if you don’t. To each their own….

I have made up my mind to be reading at worst a book each week. That is the goal that I have this year. I want to be able to have read a couple of books before we get to the middle of the month. I understand that such plan is not easier to achieve, but not impossible.

    1. Well, that depends on a couple of things. First off, how fast a person can read. The other thing is how big the book is.

  4. I have a lot of plans for 2024 and one of them is to start an online literary magazine where people can read and publish stories, essays and poetry. I also plan on providing writing and editing services to users.
