Have your reading tastes changed…?

Your tastes in reading….have they changed over time? If they have, how have they changed?

When I was younger, I read more children’s literature but I grew out of that the older I got. I might read something from the children’s genre (like the Harry Potter series for example) but I don’t spend a lot of time in that genre though.

But have my tastes changed since becoming an adult? I’ve noticed that I use to read mostly fantasy when I was younger but I notice now that I’ve branched out more the older I got. Some times I’ve branched out into different genre’s because it was apart of some kind of reading challenge. There are other times that I’ve become a fan of a particular author and that has lead me into another genre. I’ve also broadened some of the current genre’s I was already interested in because I’ve found new authors to read from that genre. For example, I was already a fan of the horror genre when I was reading the likes of Stephen King and Joe Hill but I became a fan of Darcy Coates later when I discovered her.

Genre’s I’ve been reading last couple of years….

  • horror
  • romance (occasionally)
  • fantasy
  • science fiction (occasionally)
  • historical fiction
  • poetry (occasionally)
  • mystery
  • crime drama (occasionally)
  • suspense/thriller
  • young adult or children’s (occasionally)

I think I was 3 years when I read the first book. It was a simple animal story. I no longer read such books. As a young adult, I read adventures, but I no longer read such books. Currently, I mostly read non fiction. My reading taste has changed a lot.

    1. I think a lot of people’s taste changes, especially when they go from their childhood into their adulthood.

Yes of course, I can admit that my reading habits have changed over the last couple of years. Some books that I used to enjoy reading years ago are no longer giving me the vibes to read them again.

    1. There are some books I’ve re-read but I’m sure that I won’t re-read everything. There are just too many books to go back and re-read stuff.
