How do you feel about movies based on literature?

Movie adaptations are just that…..an adaptation. You can’t take an entire book and cram it into a single movie…….not without the movie being 14 hours long. I don’t see anyone sitting around that long to watch a movie.

But some movies don’t do the book justice and some movies do a pretty good job. There have been people who have asked for a re-do of the Eragon movie based on the book of the same name by Christopher Paolini. I am on board with that if you can get the right person to do it. I think someone like Peter Jackson……he did the Lord of the Rings movies so I feel like he would be able to do a fantasy novel turn movie adaptation right.

I thought the movies based on the Harry Potter series did a decent job. There were a few spots that I thought didn’t do the books justice, however, I thought they did a fair job for most of the series. I feel the same way about the Twilight movies….I thought they did a fair job.

I’m okay with Hollywood making a book into a movie as long as I do it right. I don’t like it when they make a movie based on a book and the movie has absolutely nothing to do with the book. I don’t understand why they would do that.
