Who encouraged you to read?

I had some teachers that encouraged me to read, especially when I was younger. I was always the kid that was happy when a teacher told us to read quietly to ourselves in class because I’ve always enjoyed reading. I didn’t mind doing a book report in school. I enjoyed reading so much that it didn’t seem like work to me. But yeah, it was mostly just teachers at school that would encourage my reading (as long as it wasn’t while they were trying to teach).

One time (and this was when I was in elementary school), we got to bring our sleeping bag to school and the teacher let us read our favorite books. We didn’t get to do this all day. We still had school in the morning like normal but in the afternoon, after we had lunch, we got have our little party. I don’t know if it was the teacher that came up with that idea or one of the students in class that suggested it, but it was fun nonetheless.

Who encouraged you to read? Please share in the comments, if you don’t mind…

  1. It was both my mum and my grandma and to some extent my auntie who encouraged me to read. They would always buy me small things for my birthday and Christmas but would also buy me books as well so that I had a nice collection of books to read. My mum would also take me and my brothers to the library as well each week to get a new book to read.
