Do you think it’s okay to ban books? Why or why not? Which books do you think should be banned? Why?

I remember when the Harry Potter books were first coming out, there were parents that wanted the books removed from the library because they thought the series taught witchcraft to their children. When I decided to read the series for myself, I wanted to gain my own impressions of it. Since reading the series, I’ve viewed it the same as I do any other work of fiction that I’ve read……it is a made up story about made up characters from a made up world. I didn’t find anything wrong with reading the series anymore than any of the other fiction I’ve ever read. Fiction is just that, it’s a made up story about characters living in a world that’s not real.

My thoughts on banning books…….I don’t think books should be banned. I think it should be up to each individual person to decide if you want to read that book or you don’t want to read it. If you don’t like a particular book…..that’s okay. That’s why there are so many different types of books, so that every reader will have something different to enjoy despite everyone else’s tastes. Let each book be and let all the readers read what they want to read.
