How valuable is reading in your life?

I have been a reader my entire life. Even before I was old enough to read on my own, I enjoyed it when someone read a book to me. Now reading is a par of my life. I don’t know that there has ever been a time in my life that I haven’t been reading. There is normally not a day that goes by that I am not reading (not unless I’m really sick or something like that). Reading is not only a hobby that provides me with a form of entertainment but it provides me with a way to de-stress at the end of a long day at work. Reading, especially any kind of fiction, proves an means of escaping whatever stress I’ve accumulated over the course of my day and forget about it.

Some people will read in order to educate themselves or because they want to learn more about a particular subject. Some people also like reading an autobiography because they enjoy getting to know more about a particular person……maybe someone they admire. It’s okay to read for other reasons, especially when it comes to bettering yourself in some way. I read in order to entertain my brain…..the same way someone might watch a tv show or a movie. But I also need reading as a way to get my mind off of whatever stress I may have at that moment.

I have to have reading. I don’t know what I’d do without it…..

  1. I mostly use reading fiction as a form of entertainment and sometimes escapism as well. It also helps calm me 🙂 I honestly don’t want to imagine life without books!

    1. I’m exactly the same way. I have to have my daily dose of reading and I don’t want to imagine what my life would be like without books either.
