How would you explain reading to someone who knows nothing about it?
My hubby knows how to read, of course, but he doesn’t read for the fun of it like I do. He prefers to watch tv in his spare time when he comes home from work where as I prefer to read. Now, if Hollywood makes a movie based on a book I’ve read then I’ll usually watch the movie. Normally I can get him to watch the movie with me because he says that only takes a couple of hours (the only exception so far was when they made the Twilight series into movies because he doesn’t do romance). Reading a book would take him more than a couple of hours of his time and I don’t think he has the patience for it.
I’ve tried explaining to him that I enjoy it the same way that he enjoys watching tv. The difference is when you watch tv you have to wait a week before you get another episode. Reading a book, you don’t have to wait a week in between chapters. I can read a bunch of chapters in one sitting. The only problem is I have to stop at some point and go to bed because I’m tired.
