I thought I’d take a quick look at the pro’s and con’s of the book store and the library. Both have their benefits and short falls. It just depends on which one you’d rather deal with…

Library

Pro’s

• It’s free. You can borrow books all day long.
• The staff can potentially recommend you stuff to read (and help you find what you’re looking for).
• Libraries have other services that the community can utilize (you won’t find these services at the book store).
• If the library doesn’t have a specific title, there is a chance they can get a copy for you.
• If you are not sure if you’ll like a certain book or not, you won’t be out any money if you borrow it from your local library.

Con’s

• You have to return the books eventually. Because of that, you may have to kind of hurry through the book since you don’t get to keep it.
• If you are looking for a specific title, you might be stuck on a waiting list before you are able to read it.
• Normally, I can only check out a couple of books at a time.

Book store

Pro’s

• Because you bought it, there’s no time limit on when you have to turn it in. So you can take all the time you need to read it and don’t have to rush through it.
• The staff can potentially recommend you stuff to read (and help you find what you’re looking for).
• If the book store doesn’t have that specific title you’re looking for, they may be able to help you order online. Then it can be shipped to the book store or your home, whichever is more convenient for you.

Con’s

• It isn’t free like the library.
• How many books I can get depends on how much money I have in my pocket.
