The Fireside Chats

Do you have any female literary characters that you particularly like? If so, who are they? What do you like about that character?

Ginny Weasley (“Harry Potter” series by J. K. Rowling) = Ginny is what I’d call a “fiery red-head”. I don’t know if any of you have ever heard of the time before but I’ve heard of it a few times over the course of my life time. She doesn’t let it intimidate her that she has 6 older brothers and she shows you exactly why she belongs in Gryffindor.

Grace (“Crave” series by Tracy Wolff) = Grace goes to a new school after loosing her parents in a tragic accident. Her uncle is the headmaster there and her female cousin goes to school there (so she’s going to school there since they are her closest relatives that we know of). A lot of things happen over the course of the series (the series isn’t over yet) but Grace does really well handling it all. Grace is a girl that has some bravado.

Mary Lennox (“The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodges Barnett) = Mary Lennox comes from a pampered background and so at the beginning of the story, she is very spoiled. Without ruining the story for those of you who have not read this book, it is awesome to watch her transform over the course of the book from beginning to end.
