Looking for some inspiration for your literature blog? Here are some ideas to get you going.

Forum Question

Take a question that someone has asked you on a forum and write an article about it. For example, if someone has asked you “What is the importance of reading?”, “Did you ever have a teacher that encouraged you to read?” or “What’s a favorite snack to have while you’re reading?”, etc. There are many literature related questions that can be answered and written about on your blog.

Book Review

Just finish reading a book? Then why not take the time to share your thoughts on that book? With this type of post, I make sure to reveal to my readers if I’m going to include spoilers or not. I know some people don’t like to read spoilers if they haven’t gotten a chance to read the book yet (or they’re in the middle of said book and they aren’t finished with it). I would be sure to mention this at the beginning of the article so they’ll know to not read any further until they’ve finished the book.

Movie/TV

If you watched a movie or tv show that is based on a book, then you can do a review of it. This is something I do on my blog. Keep in mind, this is something else that may have to include a spoiler alert in case you have readers that haven’t watched it yet.

Holiday Recommendation

As each holiday rolls around, I’ll recommend different books that may coincide with that particular holiday or help get you in the mood for that holiday. For example, I’ll recommend some romance novels as Valentine’s Day approaches or I’ll recommend some scary novels in time for Halloween.

Book Haul

Have you raided your local book store lately? What about your latest trip to the library? Did you find some new e-books on Amazon? Feel free to discuss the latest books you’ve gotten from your local book store, the library, Amazon, etc.

Childhood Favorites

Feel free to discuss some of the books you loved as a child. You can even share reading them to your own children, if you have any.

Book Store / Library

Is there a certain book store near you that you like to shop at? Is there a library near you that you like to frequent? If so, don’t hesitate sharing that with your readers. Discuss what it looks like, how often you visit, how much you normally spend, etc.

Quotes

This is something I like to do periodically. I’ll do quotes from some of my favorite literature characters. Just pick a character and talk about all your favorite quotes from that character.

Authors

Here you can do a couple of things. If you can find an author that will let you interview them for your blog, that’s one option. If you are unable to get in touch with them (for whatever reason), you can always just do a spotlight on your favorite authors. Tell your readers which authors you like and why.

Music

For this one, you can pick different music for that book that you just read. You can basically make your own soundtrack/playlist for that book and share it with your readers.

Bookshelves

Take your readers on a tour of your bookshelves and share with them your reads. It would be fun to share with everyone how you like to organize your shelves.

Gift Ideas

You can do an article on bookish gift ideas for that reader on your list. This can help out your readers with ideas for the reader on their list. Plus, your readers might have more ideas to add when they comment on your article.

Releases

Talk about upcoming books that you are excited for. This is something I do periodically. I’ll hint at some books that I’m looking forward to, like the remain illustrated editions of the Harry Potter books.

Like This….

You can do an article about “if you like a certain book then you’ll like these….” I’ve done an article where I recommended books for people who like the Harry Potter series.

Into a Particular Genre……

Here is something similar. If your readers like a particular genre then you can recommend notable authors in that genre. Hopefully this will get them hooked on some new material to read in their favorite genre.

Goals

It isn’t a bad idea to share your goals with your readers. Regardless if you have weekly, monthly, or yearly goals…..feel free to share with your readers. You might even ask your readers what their goals are.

Q & A

Do you get lots of questions from your readers? You might share questions you’ve received along with your answers in an article from time to time.

Crafts/Activities

If you think your readers might like certain bookish crafts or some other bookish activities, it might now be a bad thing to share this with your readers.

Read More

Got any tips on how to be able to read more? This would be a nice thing to be able to share with your readers. Your readers might be able to share their tips in return.
