8 Cool Bookstores & Libraries You Can Spend The Night In

This is awesome! I recently read an article (link provided at the bottom) about different bookstores or libraries that let you spend the night. Yes, please! I would love to do something like this when I know I’m going to be off or on vacation. I’ve listed here all the places mentioned in the article. There is only one place on the list that is in the US, all the other places are abroad and I’d have to get a passport.

Gladstone’s Library in Hawarden, Wales
Shakespeare and Company in Paris, France
Sylvia Beach Hotel in Newport, Oregon
Tsutaya Book Apartment in Tokyo, Japan
The Literary Man Obidos Hotel in Obidos, Portugal
The Open Book in Wigtown, Scotland
La Librairie in Paris, France
Book and Bed in Tokyo, Japan

  1. I want to say that I remember reading this article! I wouldn’t mind staying at any of these places at all. I’d love to visit the Shakespeare and Company book shop in Paris in particular. I love the Tumbleweed tradition, the page long audiobiographies. I’d love to read through them!

    1. I would love to spend the night at any of them. I’d have to make sure I was off work the next day.

The apartment one in Tokyo is weirdly pleasing, I wonder if you make some money with a book store like that?
Anyway, there is just a different feel when you go to a library overnight, it’s just a different vibe, just more pleasant in my opinion. I wish I could do it more often.

    1. I would think so as well. I can hang out in a book store regardless of the time. But I wouldn’t mind going to a book store overnight. It’s something I’ve not been able to do.
