The magic of reading!

What do you find magical about reading? What makes a book worth reading to you?

Reading, to me, allows me to get away from the stress. Now, I don’t have anything stressful at home (not that I find stressful anyway) but I do have some stress at work. When I come home from a long day at work, all I want to do is take a shower and then go curl up on the couch with a good book. Reading allows me to forget about whatever stressful things I’ve got going on at my work. It’s like giving your brain a vacation…..but your body doesn’t have to leave the house. So, reading is essentially my stress reliever.

Also, if you are a person that likes to read fiction…..reading allows you to get lost in other worlds and adventures without having to leave your house. Some people just enjoy reading for the entertainment value, just like some people enjoy watching tv or movies. It just lasts a little longer than a tv show or movie. So, in short, reading is a stress reliever and it’s entertaining at the same time (it is to me, at least).

  1. I’d say reading is magical because a lot of the reasons you have stated. Reading a book is great when you want to forget about a long and tough day. Reading allows my brain to focus on whatever is going on in the story inside the book, rather than what may be going on in my personal life. I especially like to imagine myself in these stories when it comes to reading fiction books. I can compare myself to the main character, and contemplate whether I would have made the same decisions as the main character.

    1. Don’t get me wrong, I like enjoying the story as much as the next person. It’s just that having a way to get my mind off whatever happened at work that day is another big factor in why I read.
