The Biggest Lie in Literature

Think about this before you scroll down to look for the answer. What do you think is the biggest lie in literature?

I think the biggest lie in literature is we can get the idea that our significant other has to be like some of these hero’s we read about in some of our books. Our significant others are the people we love in real life…..they are not going to be just like Edward Cullen or Jacob Black from the Twilight series (or some other fictional character). We spend so much of our time reading that we should not get the story in our books confused with what is going on in our real life. Reading I think gives us certain expectations about our significant other…..what they should be, what they should look like, what they should say, how they should act, etc.

It’s okay if we spend our free time reading. But I don’t think it’s okay to ask our significant other to match what we read in our books. Our significant other is a real person and they have real feelings. Don’t damage your relationship with your significant other because you expect them to be like some fictional character you read about.
